Mobile App Chat Messaging – User Guide

The Chat feature allows parents, players, coaches, and team members to communicate directly within the app. You can view conversations, send messages, create group chats, and manage notifications — all in one place.


Accessing Chat

  1. Open the mobile app.
  2. Tap Chat in the bottom navigation menu or the Chat icon on the top right of the screen.

You’ll now see your messaging inbox.


Understanding the Chat Inbox

The main Chat screen displays:

  • A list of recent conversations
  • Contact or group names
  • Message previews
  • Timestamps of the most recent message
  • Unread message indicators (if applicable)

Conversations are organized chronologically, with the most recent at the top.


Opening a Conversation

  1. Tap any conversation from the list.
  2. The message thread will open.
  3. Scroll up to view past messages.
  4. Type your message in the text field at the bottom.
  5. Tap Send to deliver your message.

Messages appear in real time within the thread.


Starting a New Message

To create a new conversation:

  1. Tap the + (plus) icon in the lower right corner of the Chat screen.

    Select:

    • An individual contact, or
    • Click on a Group
      • To Add a New Group
        • Tap the + icon.
        • Click on Add New Group.
        • Choose the Team Name the group falls under.
        • Select the individuals you wish to include in the Group Chat.
        • Enter a Group Name.
        • The newly created Group now shows in your contact list.
        • Choose the intended Group you wish to send a message to.
  2. Type your message.
  3. Tap Send.

The new conversation will now appear in your inbox.


Creating a Group Chat

  1. Tap the + icon.
  2. Click on Add New Group.
  3. Choose the team the group falls under.
  4. Select the individuals you wish to include in the Group.
  5. Enter a Group Name.
  6. The new group you created now shows in your contact list.
  7. Choose the intended Group to chat with and begin typing your message.

Group chats allow team-wide communication and updates.


Sending Messages

Within any conversation:

  • Type your message in the input field.
  • Tap Send.
  • Your message will appear immediately in the thread.

From within the message, you can also:

  • Send attachments
    • Click on the Files icon.
  • Share Photos and Videos
    • Click on the Camera icon to take and record live photos and videos.
    • Click on the Gallery icon to send photos and videos from your phone.
  • View message timestamps

    Within any conversation:

    • Type your message in the input field.
    • Tap Send.
    • Your message will appear immediately in the thread.
  • Depending on app functionality, you may also be able to:
    • Send attachments
    • Share links
    • View message timestamps
  • Send attachments

  • View message timestamps

Managing Notifications

You may receive notifications when:

  • A new message arrives
  • You are added to a group chat
  • You are mentioned in a conversation

To manage notifications:

  1. Go to your device settings.
  2. Adjust notification preferences for the app.

(Some apps may also allow muting specific conversations within the chat settings.)


Best Practices for Chat

  • Keep messages relevant to team activities.
  • Use group chats for team-wide updates.
  • Use individual chats for private communication.
  • Check messages regularly during the season.
