Chat Messaging Overview

The Mobile App Chat feature allows parents, players, coaches, and team members to communicate directly within the app. You can view conversations, send messages, create group chats, and manage notifications — all in one place.

Accessing Chat

1. Open the mobile app.
2. Tap Chat in the bottom navigation menu or the Chat icon on the top right of the screen.

3. You’ll now see all the chat messages in your Conversation List.

Understanding the Chat Screen

The main Chat Screen displays:

• A list of recent chat conversations
• Contacts and/or Group Names
• Message previews
• Timestamps of the most recent message
• Unread message indicators (if applicable)

Conversations are organized chronologically, with the most recent at the top.

Opening a Conversation

1. Tap any conversation from the list.
2. The message thread will open.
3. Scroll up to view past messages.
4. Type new messages in the text field at the bottom. Include photos, videos or files.
5. Tap Send to deliver your message.

Messages appear in real time within the thread.

Starting a New Chat Message

To create a new conversation:

1. Tap the + (plus) icon in the lower right corner of the Chat screen.

2. Select:
   • An individual contact by checking the box next to his or her name, or
   • Click on the Player's dropdown arrow to see his or her Guardian(s) and select the name(s) you wish to message. Note: If multiple names are chosen, you will be given the option to name the group. See below for instructions on how to do this.
3. Type your message. Insert photos, videos or files if desired. Click here to learn how to include attachments.  
4. Tap Send.
5. The new conversation will now appear in your Chat List. Refer to this list for quick reference to send messages to previously sent individuals and groups.

Sending Messages

Within any conversation:

• Type your message in the input field.
• Tap Send.
• Your message will appear immediately in the thread.

From within the message, you can also:

• Send attachments and Share Photos/Videos. Click here for a detailed guide on how to add attachments.
  • Click on the Files icon and upload desired file.
  • Click on the Camera icon to take and record live photos and videos.
  • Click on the Gallery icon to send photos and videos from your phone.
• View message timestamps

Creating a Group Chat

1. Tap the + icon.
2. Choose the team the group falls under from the dropdown.
3. Select the individuals you wish to include in the Group.
4. Enter a Group Name.
5. You can now send a message to the group or click the back arrow to return to the conversation list.
6. The Group Name you created now shows in your conversation list.
7. When you wish to message this specific group in the future, simply locate the Group Name in your conversation list.

• Once you've sent a message to a group, you cannot change the Group Name but rather can create a new Group Name with the same users, if desired.
• You always have the option to Exit a Group Chat. See below to learn how.
• If you created the Group, you have the option to delete it, if desired. See below to learn how.

Adding a User to a Group Chat

1. Choose the Group Chat from within the Conversation List.
2. Click on the Group Name/Member Profiles at the top of the chat window.
3. Choose Add User to This Group.
4. Select the Team you wish to choose a user from.
5. Select the individual(s) you wish to include in the Group.
6. Hit Continue.
7. You can now send a message to the group or click the back arrow to return to the conversation list.
8. The Group Name you created now shows in your conversation list.
9. When you wish to message this specific group in the future, simply locate the Group Name in your conversation list.
10. Note: Once you've sent a message to a group, you cannot change the Group Name. You can create a new Group Name with the same users, if desired.

Naming a Group Chat

If you have selected multiple users to send a message to, you will be given the option to create a Group Name. To do so:

1. From within the Chat window, tap the + Create a Group Name.
2. Enter a Group Name and hit Save.

The newly created Group Name now shows in your chat conversation list.

Deleting a Group Chat

1. Choose the Group Chat you wish to delete from within the Conversation List.
2. Click on the Group Name/Member Profiles at the top of the chat window.
3. Choose Delete Group.
4. When asked if you are sure, hit Delete Group once again.

The group will no longer be in your Conversation List. Please note that you can only delete group chats that you started.

Removing Yourself from a Group Chat

1. Choose the Group Chat from the Conversation List that you wish to be removed from.
2. Click on the Group Name/Member Profiles at the top of the chat window.
3. Choose Exit Group.
4. When asked if you are sure, hit Exit Group once again.

The group will no longer be in your Conversation List and you will no longer get messages sent within that group.
